Hydroplane, a sustainable aviation climate tech startup, is seeking a highly motivated engineering interns to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge fuel cell sustainable aircraft electric propulsion, heavy duty transport systems, and power generation systems. The candidates will be responsible for design, integration, and test of a variety of aircraft systems. The selected candidate will gain hands-on experience with electric propulsion systems, prototype building and integration into aircraft systems. The candidate will also be actively involved in testing and certification. This position provides an environment to develop technical expertise, contribute to sustainability-focused projects, and be part of a team shaping the future of aviation.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in electro-mechanical system design, part selection, finite element and structural analysis, and integrated testing
- Integration of components, ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards
- Build prototypes, conduct testing, and refine designs based on performance data

Qualifications
- Enrolled in Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or an equivalent field
- Minimum of 2 years of coursework in engineering, preferably within aerospace
- Prior experience in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and design documents
- Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking ability
- Experience with CAD software, specifically Fusion 360 or similar platforms
- Passion for aircraft design and sustainable aviation technologies
Recommended Skills & Attributes
- Familiarity with fuel cell technology and electric propulsion systems
- Experience with prototype development and testing in aerospace applications
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a dynamic team environment
- Legal Authority to work in person in the United States
